This New Beauty Pie Serum Is The Gentle Way To Level Up Your Active Skincare

Understanding the Beauty Pie Phenomenon

Initially, I had my doubts about Beauty Pie. With prices that seemed too good to be true, I couldn’t help but wonder if there was a hidden catch behind their sophisticated formulations and chic packaging. I assumed they had cleverly devised a way to grab attention without substance. But I quickly changed my mind after trying a few of their offerings. The moment I slathered on their body cream, which I likened to a luxurious, oil-infused custard, and reveled in the gentle cleanse provided by their Happy Face No-Stress Jelly Cleanser, it became clear that Beauty Pie was the real deal. Nine years into my Beauty Pie journey, my bathroom is brimming with a range of their products, including the latest launch: the Youthbomb Extreme Retinal Triple Renewal Serum.

This new serum, priced at £49, marks an exciting extension of the beloved Youthbomb range. It features an impressive formulation that includes two types of vitamin A and a unique ingredient that mimics retinol’s effects. Dermatologist Dr. Mamina Turegano notes that the serum contains retinaldehyde, a powerful retinoid that does not require a prescription. Alongside this is granactive retinoid, a specially trademarked version of vitamin A known for its potency without the harsh irritation often associated with traditional retinoids. I was intrigued to learn about granactive, which allows those with sensitive skin to enjoy the benefits of vitamin A without the drawbacks.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this serum is its inclusion of bakuchiol, a plant extract celebrated for its similarity to retinoids. Dr. Turegano explains that bakuchiol, derived from the seeds and leaves of the Psoralea corylifolia plant, helps stimulate collagen production, improving skin integrity. More than just an anti-aging ingredient, bakuchiol is anti-inflammatory, tackling dark spots and hyperpigmentation as well, making it a versatile addition to the serum’s formulation.

Jessica Diner, Vogue’s global beauty and wellness director, echoes my sentiments about the Youthbomb franchise, stating that it promises high-quality actives leading to noticeable results. She describes the new serum as an excellent choice for anyone looking to enhance their retinol routine dramatically without dealing with irritation. This appeal is crucial in a skincare market that often overwhelms users with options but lacks effective solutions that are gentle on the skin.

For those who are new to this type of serum, Dr. Turegano recommends starting slowly. A pea-sized amount two to three times a week is a good way to ease into it, especially for individuals already accustomed to using a retinoid. She emphasizes the importance of layering a moisturizer over the serum to keep the skin hydrated. For those with dry or sensitive skin, a technique called "sandwiching" can be beneficial, where the serum is applied between two layers of moisturizer. This method helps slow down absorption, allowing your skin to acclimate gently—a bit like mindful eating in skincare.

As you grow comfortable with the serum, you may gradually increase usage to five days a week. The thoughtful approach advocated by Dr. Turegano makes it accessible for all skin types, encouraging users to be patient and observant of their skin’s reactions. With such a carefully curated formula in hand and a community of passionate users, it’s clear that Beauty Pie has carved a unique niche in the beauty landscape, one that champions quality and affordability without compromising on results.
