Vasiliki Petrou, a distinguished figure in the beauty industry, has embarked on an exciting new journey by launching her own company, Veralis Group Ltd. Having spent a substantial decade as the CEO of Unilever Prestige, Petrou announced her new venture on LinkedIn, expressing her dedication to supporting founders at the dynamic intersection of beauty, wellness, longevity, and consumer health. Her vision for Veralis is to establish ecosystems that facilitate mutual success among all stakeholders, aligning perfectly with her passion for collaboration and innovation. Throughout her tenure at Unilever, Petrou was instrumental in building a robust division from the ground up. Starting in 2014, she utilized a mergers and acquisitions strategy to develop what became a €1.4 billion powerhouse over the next decade. Her leadership not only showcased her business acumen but also underscored her ability to spot and nurture emerging trends in the beauty sector. Petrou’s knack for identifying high-potential brands enabled her to expand Unilever Prestige significantly, ensuring it remained relevant and competitive in a fast-evolving market.

One of Petrou’s most notable achievements during her time at Unilever was the strategic acquisition of Dermalogica in 2015, a deal valued at approximately $1 billion. This marked a transformative moment for the division, which eventually grew to encompass 11 diverse brands by the time she left in June 2024. Her last major acquisition at Unilever, the innovative K-18 Biomimetic Hair Science, further exemplified her commitment to bringing cutting-edge products into the fold. Petrou’s strategy has consistently emphasized a founder-first approach, which allows brands to maintain their unique identity while leveraging the operational strength of a larger company.

Beyond her impressive resume, Vasiliki Petrou is known for her bold and vibrant personal style, often opting for suits in eye-catching colors like tangerine and lime, paired with striking prints. Raised in Volos, Greece, she brings a unique blend of cultural influences and academic credentials to her work. After earning her master’s degree in American literature at the University of Texas, she transitioned into crisis management, which sparked her interest in the business world. This led her to pursue an MBA at Columbia University, effectively merging her creative insight with strategic business acumen. As she steps into the world of Veralis Group Ltd, her diverse background and fresh approach promise to bring a new dimension to an industry ripe for evolution.
