How a Classic South Korean Dessert Inspired Glow Recipe’s New Launch

Glow Recipe’s Sweet New Addition: Glass Balm

Glow Recipe continues to innovate with exciting new products, and their latest release, Glass Balm, promises to be a delightful treat for lip care enthusiasts. This lip product is notably inspired by Bingsoo, a beloved dessert from South Korea that consists of fluffy shaved ice topped with an array of fruits. Make sure to keep an eye out for this fresh addition, as it will first be available on Sephora’s app this Sunday, followed by the website on Monday, and will eventually appear in stores. Priced at $22, the Glass Balm will come in four mouthwatering shades: Ice Bingsoo (clear), Watermelon Bingsoo (light pink), Strawberry Bingsoo (red), and Blackberry Bingsoo (deep berry).

The creation of Glass Balm was a labor of love for co-founders Sarah Lee and Christine Chang. They shared that it took years to develop this product, with each shade containing fruit extracts that align with its namesake’s flavor. Watermelon, for instance, has been a longtime staple in Glow Recipe’s lineup. Chang emphasized that their selection of ingredients wasn’t merely about imparting flavor; they aimed for clinically effective components such as antioxidants and hyaluronic spheres that contribute to skin health.

Consumer feedback played a crucial role in the development of Glass Balm. Lee noted that while lip products have surged in popularity within the prestige skincare market, many existing options fell short in delivering true hydration. “We realized that a lot of consumers love the shine or look of certain balms but find themselves reapplying frequently or even experiencing drier lips afterward,” she explained. With Glass Balm, they wanted to provide long-lasting hydration coupled with a glossy finish, ensuring that users enjoy a truly effective treatment for their lips.

Clinical trials have shown promising results, with an impressive 97% of users reporting softer lips, and 95% noting smoother appearances. This strong feedback underscores the brand’s commitment to creating lip products that genuinely enhance the user’s experience, making hydration and shine effortless. Lee and Chang meticulously analyzed reviews across various platforms, including TikTok and Instagram, to ensure that their product would address common pain points faced by consumers.

Additionally, the launch of Glass Balm coincides with the celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, allowing Glow Recipe to honor the cultural roots of their product. Lee mentioned that the brand is collaborating with creators passionate about Korean cuisine, encouraging them to craft their own interpretations of Bingsoo. This initiative aims not only to promote the product but also to educate and build awareness of Korean culture on a global stage.

Though sales figures were not disclosed, industry experts predict that Glass Balm could generate over $35 million in its first year. This launch marks another chapter in Glow Recipe’s evolution of skin-care-makeup hybrids, joining a recent blush release in their Glow Hues line. As the brand continues to encourage education about these innovative products, they are determined to show consumers how easy it is to achieve a radiant look with their tinted offerings. With Glass Balm, Glow Recipe underscores its dedication to merging skincare efficacy with vibrant cosmetic appeal.
