Trellis Health, an innovative healthcare platform, has recently announced it has secured a substantial $1.8 million in pre-seed funding. The funding round saw participation from notable investors, including Palette Ventures, Swizzle Ventures, NextBlue, Suncoast Ventures, and the Sundial Foundation. Additionally, prominent figures from the healthcare industry contributed, such as Sheila Marcelo, founder of Care.com, and Yuri Gurski and Andrei Kouzel, cofounders of Flo Health. This influx of capital is set to play a crucial role in launching the platform and enhancing its engineering teams focused on data security and artificial intelligence, with a view to broaden its consumer outreach in the future.

Trellis Health aims to revolutionize how users interact with their health data through a user-friendly app that consolidates medical information into a coherent timeline, predictive insights, and appointment management. After a year in beta testing, the platform is gearing up for its official launch in May, during which it plans to open a waitlist for eager users ready to utilize its innovative features. The mission of Trellis Health is not just about offering a service, but creating an effective health management “operating system” for individuals, designed with a contemporary approach to meet the complex needs of users today.

The vision for Trellis Health arose from insights shared by its co-founder and CEO, Estelle Giraud, who previously contributed to the genomics sector at Illumina. Giraud observed a significant shift in healthcare, particularly regarding the traditional role of primary care physicians. The concept of having a family doctor, who understood the medical history of generations within a family, has diminished amid a system that often involves patients consulting many different specialists. Alarmingly, she noted that around 50% of young people today do not even have a primary care physician, and for those who do, accessing timely care can be an arduous process.

In response to these challenges, Trellis Health is focusing its initial efforts on supporting women through pregnancy and postpartum care. The platform allows users to consolidate all their medical records and generates a comprehensive health timeline that includes historical health data and family medical histories. By harnessing artificial intelligence, Trellis Health can also provide personalized, predictive insights tailored to an individual’s unique health journey. This capability aims to alleviate the cognitive burden typically associated with managing one’s health, offering users a clearer understanding of their conditions and needs.

One of the standout features of Trellis Health is its ability to aggregate health data from over 50,000 medical sites across the nation. This access means that users can compile a decade’s worth of health history in mere minutes, making the process of reporting to healthcare providers significantly more straightforward. With a focus on enhancing the healthcare experience, the platform can generate tailored questions for medical appointments and suggest relevant at-home tests aligned with users’ health statuses and preferences. This innovative approach marks a significant step toward empowering individuals in their healthcare journeys by transforming how they view and manage their health.

As Trellis Health prepares for its launch, the aspirations for its growth extend far beyond initial offerings in women’s health. Giraud emphasizes a rapid expansion plan that will eventually cater to families and individuals, ensuring that the platform addresses a wider scope of health concerns and demographics. The aim is clear: to relieve the burdens associated with health management through a centralized online platform that focuses on enhancing health outcomes, especially during pivotal life stages such as pregnancy and postpartum. With a strong foundation of funding and a dedicated vision, Trellis Health is poised to make a lasting impact on the healthcare landscape.
