Hotel Lobby Candle Ventures into Personal Fragrance
Hotel Lobby Candle, a brand renowned for its exquisite scents inspired by luxury hotels and travel, is stepping into the burgeoning personal fragrance market. They’re launching a line of five eau de parfums, each crafted to evoke the essence of their popular candles. The scents—New York, Signature Skin, Poolside, Miami, and London—will initially be available in travel sizes, retailing at $48 each or $200 for the complete set. Full-size editions are expected to be released in the next year or so. This collection, designed to be gender-neutral, is projected to generate around $2 million in sales within its first year, indicating a promising response in a rapidly growing industry.
A Natural Transition for the Brand
The decision to venture into personal fragrance feels natural to founder Lindsay Silberman, given the brand’s deep-seated expertise in scent creation. Silberman has spent years building a loyal customer base that resonates with the sensory experiences offered by their products. “Customers have consistently expressed a desire to wear our scents,” she notes. Recognizing the recent surge in consumer interest in fine fragrance, Silberman felt it was the perfect time to expand the brand’s offerings. The reception has been overwhelmingly positive, with clients eagerly anticipating new ways to enjoy and incorporate these scents into their daily lives.
Bestsellers Inspiring New Offerings
Among the fragrances slated for release, two have emerged as fan favorites: Signature and New York. These scents have not only topped sales within the brand’s candle line but have also sparked ideas for further product development. Customers have expressed their enthusiasm for these fragrances, asking for them in various forms—from body washes to laundry detergents. As a response, the initial plan was to translate the top-selling home scents into eau de parfums; however, only five were ultimately selected for their adaptability as wearables. Notably, the Signature scent includes softer, skin-like notes, making it exceptionally approachable as a personal fragrance.
A Diverse Scent Collection
Silberman describes the new fragrance collection as a well-rounded assortment that spans different scent categories. For instance, Poolside captures the liveliness of summer with its fresh notes of neroli, orange blossom, and bergamot zest, whereas London offers a comforting blend of sugared amber, whipped vanilla milk, and soft musk. This variety aims to cater to diverse personal preferences, allowing users to find unique scents that resonate with their individual style. It also aligns with the current trend of layering fragrances—a concept that encourages personal expression and experimentation.
The Fun of Individual Expression
Over the years, the landscape of personal fragrance has dramatically shifted. Silberman reflects on her past experience of having a singular signature scent, contrasting it with modern trends that embrace variety and customization. “Now, it’s much more fun to play around and wear different scents each day,” she explains. Today’s fragrance enthusiasts are eager for distinctive scents that help them stand out rather than conform to popular choices. This evolution in consumer desires emphasizes the importance of personal storytelling through fragrance, inviting people to share the stories behind their unique scent discoveries.
Future Aspirations and Growth Plans
With the initial travel set, Silberman envisions creating a remarkable discovery experience for customers, encouraging them to mix and layer scents throughout their day. Beyond the forthcoming full-size releases, the brand is strategically planning to introduce even more scents, potentially diversifying beyond just the candle-inspired fragrances. While growth is on the horizon, the brand aims to carefully and purposefully expand its product range. The long-term vision is to cultivate a robust lineup of fragrances and ancillary products, fulfilling the evolving needs of the modern scent enthusiast and solidifying Hotel Lobby Candle’s place in the fragrance industry.
