EXCLUSIVE: Champion Is Launching Fragrance

Champion, a prominent name in sportswear, is set to expand its brand into the fragrance market through a licensing agreement with Revlon Consumer Products. This venture marks a significant milestone as it’s Champion’s first entry into the world of scents. Their inaugural collection, aimed at both men and women, is scheduled to launch in 2027. Jerrod Weber, the global president of Champion’s parent company, Authentic Brands Group, highlighted this move as a natural progression as they explore new dimensions in fashion and lifestyle, with fragrance being a key area of expansion.

This isn’t the first collaboration between Authentic Brands Group and Revlon. The company also owns Juicy Couture, a brand that has had its fragrance business linked with Revlon since 2016. Just this summer, that partnership was reaffirmed. Authentic’s portfolio is robust, housing other apparel brands like Nautica and Vince Camuto, each licensing their fragrance lines to Coty and Parlux, respectively. The connection between Champion and Revlon signifies a strategic partnership, combining Champion’s cultural significance with Revlon’s expertise in beauty.

Revlon, which is on a journey of resurgence after emerging from bankruptcy two years ago, is keen on revamping its fragrance segment. The category has shown promising growth, with recent data from Circana indicating that fragrance has become the fastest-growing segment in beauty, dominating both mass and prestige markets in early 2025. In a statement, Revlon CEO Michelle Peluso expressed enthusiasm about Champion joining their brand family, emphasizing the synergy between Champion’s vibrant energy and Revlon’s goals to captivate the next generation.

Additionally, Revlon has been actively expanding its fragrance offerings; earlier this year, they renewed their license with Juicy Couture and announced a new partnership with Grammy-nominated rapper Ice Spice, whose fragrance will debut in 2026. Revlon’s portfolio already includes well-known names like John Varvatos and Elizabeth Arden, which recently celebrated its 115th anniversary. These strategic moves highlight Revlon’s commitment to revitalizing its fragrance line, ensuring it remains competitive in a burgeoning market.

The recent trend among fashion brands to diversify into the fragrance sector has been notable. In 2024 alone, various luxury brands, including Bottega Veneta, Balmain, and Balenciaga, made their forays into fragrance, while Jacquemus plans to collaborate with L’Oréal for its debut. Moreover, brands like Cult Gaia, U.K.-based Cos, and Max Mara’s parent company Max & Co. have also embraced this shift. This trend illustrates a larger industry movement where fashion and beauty are increasingly intertwined.

As Champion prepares to launch its line, it not only aims to capture a piece of the growing fragrance market but also reinforces the crossover between sportswear and lifestyle branding. The venture aligns well with current market trends, where consumers seek products that reflect their lifestyles and identities. The anticipation surrounding Champion’s fragrance collection indicates a promising future as it partners with Revlon, marking an exciting chapter for both brands in the evolving landscape of beauty and fashion.
